【摘要】:Thepurposeofthispracticeistoprovideaprocedureforlocating,detectingandestimatingtherelevanceoflongitudinallyorientedcrack-likediscontinuitieswhichhavebeenpreviouslyindicatedbyAEexamination.Thispracticemaybeusedforapressurevesselthatissituatedinsuchawayastolimitaccesstothevessel''swall.Typicalexamplesincludetubetrailersandgastuberailroadcars.Sincethepressurevesselsarestackedhorizontallyinaframe,withlimitedspacebetweenthem,thecircumferentiallocationofadiscontinuitymaybeadistanceawayfromthesearchunit(severalskipdistances).Thispracticehasbeenshowntobeeffectiveforcylindersbetween9in.(229mm)and24in.(610mm)indiameterandwallthicknessesbetween1/4in.(6.4mm)to1in.(26mm)withdiscontinuitiesthatareorientedlongitudinallyinpressurevesselsidewall.Toreliablydetectdiscontinuitiesbytheprocedureinthispractice,asignificantpartofthereflectingsurfacemustbetransversetothebeamdirection.EvaluationofpossiblediscontinuityintheendfacesindicatedbyAEisnotcoveredbythispractice.1.1Thispracticedescribesacontactangle-beamshearwaveultrasonictechniquetodetectandlocatethecircumferentialpositionoflongitudinallyorienteddiscontinuitiesandtocomparetheamplitudeoftheindicationfromsuchdiscontinuitiestothatofaspecifiedreferencenotch.Thispracticedoesnotaddressexaminationofthevesselends.Thebasicprinciplesofcontactangle-beamexaminationcanbefoundinPracticeE587.Applicationtopipeandtubing,includingtheuseofnotchesforstandardization,isdescribedinPracticeE213.1.2Thispracticeisappropriatefortheultrasonicexaminationofcylindricalsectionsofgas-filled,seamless,steelpressurevesselssuchasthoseusedforthestorageandtransportationofpressurizedgasses.Itisapplicabletobothisolatedvesselsandthoseinassemblies.1.3ThepracticeisintendedtobeusedfollowinganAcousticEmission(AE)examinationofstackedseamlessgaseouspressurevessels(withlimitedsurfacescanningarea)describedinTestMethodE1419.1.4Thispracticedoesnotestablishacceptancecriteria.Thesearedeterminedbythereferencenotchdimensions,whichmustbespecifiedbytheusingparties.Note18212;BackgroundinformationrelatingtothetechnicalrequirementsofthispracticecanbefoundinthereferencessitedinTestMethodE1419,AppendixX1.1.5Dimensionalvaluesstatedinin-poundunitsareregardedasstandard;SIequivalents,inparenthesesmaybeapproximate.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
